New FPS Vision and Mission – AND Give us Your Thoughts on a New Organizational Name

The FPS Executive Board is seeking input on draft Vision and Mission statements that resulted from the Visioning and Strategic Planning process. These statements reflect a future Society that will focus broadly on wood, but also on other renewable materials; be a more internationally active and engaged organization; and coordinate with other global organizations focused on wood and renewable resources to have greater impact on shaping public opinion and natural resources policy.

What do you think of the new Vision and Mission? What does it mean for the Society? How will it impact the scope of our work, our member audience, and our branding? To answer questions like these, we have created an online feedback form. We will also have booths at upcoming FPS conferences, including the 65th International Convention, that will contain an “idea box” to collect possible new names for the Society that reflect the new Vision and Mission.

If you have not done so already, please review the new Vision and Mission, and submit your comments to us today. We want to hear from you!

Forest Products Journal Online – Your Feedback Requested

FPS Headquarters is considering moving the Forest Products Journal from a print publication to an online publication. Making this shift would help FPS manage the rising costs of printing and mailing the Journal, while bringing added value to subscribers by providing the capability for full-text searches, mobile device compatibility, ease of use, and other benefits.

For some of you this may be a welcome change that you have been waiting for, while others may be very much attached to the paper format. Please know that we are committed to continuing to provide a paper Journal for those who will wish to continue this; however, recent actions by the US Postal Service may force our hand to move more rapidly toward an electronic format.

We only learned of the postal changes recently so we are still in early stages of exploring the electronic publication concept, but we want to hear from you! Please take two minutes and complete a short survey to let us know what you think.
