Barry Goodell Named Head of Virginia Tech Department of Wood Science and Forest Products
FPS President Barry Goodell has been named head of the Department of Wood Science and Forest Products in Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment. Goodell succeeds Audrey Zink-Sharp, who has served as interim department head since Paul Winistorfer became dean of the college in August 2009.

Associate Editors Appointed to FPJ
We have enlisted the help of several Society members to serve as Associate Editors of the Forest Products Journal. The Associate Editors will oversee the peer review of manuscripts in their respective areas of expertise, reviewing submissions assigned to them and assigning confidential peer reviewers. This joint meeting represents a combination of Washington State University’s longstanding International Wood Composite Symposium along with the biannual International Symposium on Veneer Processing and Products. This year’s symposium is co-sponsored by Washington State University, APA-The Engineered Wood Association, and FPInnovation. The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences is searching for an outstanding candidate to fill a Forest Products Management Development Institute Endowed Chair in the area of Sustainable Bio-based Products Development and Management. The candidate’s research should focus on sustainable bio-based products development and management including conceptualization, design, development, production, performance assessment, and end-of-life strategies focused on bio-based building materials and industrial and consumer products. This position is a nine-month tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor.
